Rules for posting on Janglo

Please post your message only once to the site, in the category that most accurately fits it.

After your ad has been on the site for four days, a link to "Jump ad"will appear inside your message when you are logged in. Pressing that will automatically renew your message for one month, and move it to the top off the list. This applies in all categories. That means there is never any need to post the same message to the site more than once.

Please do not try to increase your position by posting multiple times, or from different accounts. Doing so makes the entire site less efficient and use-friendly, and may lead to your removal from the site. Exceptions to this rule are at the discretion of the moderators only, and their decision is final.

NEW! Veteran users can skip moderation with express posting on Janglo. Learn more

Messages remain online for 30 days unless they are renewed. A word about privacy

You can easily edit your message and/or add pictures at any time by pressing the edit link on your message when you are logged in.

Please include your location in all posts. When relevant, please list your neighborhood instead of the city.

The following rules apply to all ads posted on Janglo:

Posts to Janglo must be useful, not just interesting. Ask yourself: Does anyone gain anything tangible from the post besides information?

Messages about politics do not belong on Janglo. We are in favor of political activism on the streets. However, we allow only posts that announce an event, or information people can use, and not articles that may just be "interesting" to one group or another, etc. Furthermore, because we try to be extra-sensitive in this matter, we don't allow any political rhetoric even in "useful" emails relating to political issues. The rule: include enough info for people to know what the protest is about, but no slogans or accusations.

A word about Halacha: Janglo's management is Orthodox, and holds itself to high religious standards. We never moderate on Shabbat or holidays, and all material that we create ourselves will always be in line with Halacha. We work hard to maintain a wholesome environment on the site that all users will feel comfortable using, and ask all users to hold themselves to these standards on the site, as well. That being said, we have stopped rejecting messages that offer employment on Shabbat. We recognize that Israelis hold a wide variety of religious beliefs, and believe that rejecting such messages denies the complexity of our society. Janglo is founded on tolerance of all Jews, and we strive to represent our community as faithfully as possible while keeping an eye on our higher goals.

Posts must be in line with Israeli law. Obviously, pornographic material and other common Internet filth is not allowed.

No one gets hurt on Janglo. Any email saying or implying anything about anyone is not allowed. True, this means that warnings about fraudulent businesses, missionaries, or perverts don't get published (we've had issues with all of them), but the liability for us otherwise would be too great.

Keep things brief! Janglo gets more than 350 messages a day, and we recognize that this is a burden for many of you. We try to censor out as many unnecessary emails as possible, and we ask you to think twice before sending anything to the list. As well, please keep our emails as short as possible!

Please make your emails user-friendly! Include in every email a clear subject line, dates of events, and locations of sales. Proper spelling and grammar will lead to better feedback from users. Also, double check before sending so you don't have to make an embarrassing correction later!

Janglo is not an excuse for laziness! Don't ask the list something you could answer by looking in the Yellow Pages, doing an online search, or asking a friend.

The moderators reserve the right to refuse messages on any grounds. They can also edit posts if that will make them more appropriate for thelist.

It is NOT ok to send unrelated commercial messages to the users.

Misusing the service can result in being banned from Janglo.
