Egged and Jerusalem's Central Bus Station will have to pay a fine of NIS 12.4 million due to severe air pollution at the station, Mynet Jerusalem reports.

The class action was filed by 7 public transport users, activists in the Public Transportation Consumers' Association 15 minutes. and a group of retirees who did not accept that the central bus station is polluted with nitrogen oxides that are several times higher than the accepted standards.

The Tel Aviv District Court ruled that NIS 7.4 million would be invested in improving the service experience at the station and raising awareness of air pollution. The money will go toward making the public bathrooms there free of charge for one year, as well establishing a nursing room, a waiting area with benches for passengers on the gallery floor of the station, a play area, and other amenities.

In addition, NIS 5 million was allocated to environmental organizations and to the rights of people with disabilities. This is the most expensive class action suit ever in the environmental field in Israel, the report said.
