PRESSING THE PAUSE BUTTON: TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN SELF CONTROL

FACILITATED BY SHARNI BRODESKY, M.SC.MED

TUESDAY, MARCH 12TH   20:30IN

Are you struggling to teach your child responsibilities, like getting to school on time, eating healthy, doing homework, chores, being kind to others, etc?   Feel like you are talking to the wall? Do you experience conflict with your child when you disagree? Are you finding it hard to manage your frustration and other negative emotions in these exchanges? Does your child fly off the handle when you ask a simple request?

If any of these resonate with you, this workshop with Sharni Brodesky will provide a perfect starting point to move away from the power struggle to creating a more cooperative, harmonious home life. “Pressing the Pause Button” is a workshop designed to get straight to the source of the issues in common parent/child power struggles and conflictual dynamics.

In the workshop you will:

-        Learn to identify if your child is having difficulty regulating themselves

-        Discover how our expectations and decisions play in to our child’s behaviours

-        Learn how to take the focus away from the conflict, and on to the issue at hand.

-        Learn what children really need to develop an internal sense of self control and regulation from a developmental psychological perspective.

Once you have these keys, as parents, you will feel very much empowered to handle not only challenging situations, but also how to provide your child with the emotional and social tools they will need to thrive in their own lives and relationships.

Sharni Brodesky , an Australian licensed psychologist, studied a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy, where she learnt cutting edge research in to brain plasticity, developmental trauma, and what children need emotionally and psychologically in their home environment to build resilience and promote healthy connections in their later lives. She currently works at the Place, in Jerusalem, treating OCD, and parenting after Aliyah.  Sharni Brodesky has 20 years of experience in the mental health field with children, teens and adults.
