Activities and Guided Tours for Families and Adults

 

The Spring Holidays will be celebrated as a festival for the senses for the whole family.  The Tower of David Museum invites you to use your five senses in order to learn about the impressive citadel, the story of the holiday of Passover, and the tradition of pilgrimage to Jerusalem.  This Passover, everyone is at the Tower of David!!

 

The activities include 5 experiential stations which each focus on a different sense:  smell, taste, sight, touch and hearing. The participants will navigate through the stations using a map and tickets.  In each station, they will receive information and introduction on one of the senses in connection to Passover and Jerusalem, and will have an activity to accomplish.

For families with children 5 - 10 years old

Activity length:  Approximately 90 minutes

Entrance for children is free

STORIES OF THE WALLS

Tour on the walls of the Old City combining songs, legends and stories about Jerusalem events and personalities which made history including:  Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, builder of the walls and gates of the city; and Moses Montefiore, builder of Mishkenot Sha'ananim and the neighborhood’s windmill.  The tour will start at the Tower of David Museum and continue through the Citadel’s moat and the Ramparts Walk until the Western Wall.

 

Tour length:  90 minutes /  40 NIS/ child; 50 NIS/ adult  /   Tour is in Hebrew

 

 

A WINDOW ON JERUSALEM THROUGH VR (age 12 and up)

Tour including VR technology.  A unique tour in Jerusalem’s Citadel, which presents the city’s story in 3D using Virtual Reality, granting the participant an unforgettable experience.  The magic of VR completes the picture of the city of Jerusalem’s past, and offers a detailed picture and a deeper understanding of Jerusalem. Tour route:  Observation point from Phasael Tower, Citadel’s moat and remains of Herod’s palace in the Kishle.

TOURS FOR ADULTS:

 

GUIDED TOUR OF THE EXHIBIT “THE MOUNT”

Guided tour including the Phasael Observation Point over the Temple Mount and a visit to the exhibit “The Mount”.  The story of the Temple Mount - al-Haram al-Sharif - through the modern history of the city is told through the lens of a wide-ranging, detailed photographic study.  The visitor will see unique photographs, hear about the changes which took effect on the Temple Mount through the last 150 years, and try to understand the reasons for the changes which occurred in this place which became the most important religious, political, sacred space in the Middle East.

JERUSALEM THROUGHOUT THE AGES

The exciting story of the Citadel, and an encounter with the unique, magical view over Jerusalem.  This tour is a memorable experience for all who tour and come to visit Jerusalem and serves as an introduction to the central events which happened in the city, the leaders and personalities who acted here, the city’s importance to 3 religions, and the transformation of the city into Israel’s capital and a religious and cultural center.

·         Tour length:  90 minutes /   Included in museum admission

 

TOUR OF THE KISHLE - from Herod’s Palace to a Prison

Tour in the complex of the Citadel following the impressive archaeological finds from the rich, glorious days of Jerusalem and Herod’s Palace in the city.  We will tour Herod’s Palace, visit a dyeing workshop from the Middle Ages, and hear the story of the underground fighters from the days of the British. All these stories occur along Jerusalem’s timeline and cross paths in one special place.
