The Israel Center is pleased to offer the following very special video presentations — AT NO CHARGE! Israel Center, 22 Keren HaYesod St; 560-9100

Mon, July 22 - 2:00 - Main Hall - "HILL 24 DOESN’T ANSWER” (1955) - First movie produced in Israel. The War of Independence. Four Israeli volunteers of different ethnic backgrounds are sent to hold the hill. They give their reasons why they are fighting for the fledgling state of Israel. Very moving film - a thought-provoking study of "why they fought”. (English - 1¾ hrs)

Many thanks to Roberta and Cecile Cohen for donating this important film to the Center

Sponsored by a very generous supporter of the JewishVideo program in loving memory of her Father and her two Sons

Tues, July 23 - 2:00 - Main Hall - "THREE IDENTICAL STRANGERS” (2018) - First time showing - Jewish triplets, separated at birth by a Jewish adoption agency, are placed with Jewish parents. Parents never told their baby was a triplet. By fluke, the triplets discover each other at the age of 19. But then they discover something much darker and threatening. Were they and numerous sets of separated twins guinea pigs of a Jewish psychiatrist and his team of Jewish researchers into the question of "nature or nurture”? Did the separation of the triplets and the close study of them over many years cause serious damage to the triplets? Did they precipitate the tragedy that occurred? What did the study reveal? This powerful, riveting documentary raises these issues and others. You will think about this highly acclaimed film long after you see it. (English/English subtitles - 1½ hrs)

Sponsored by Jean and Andrew Balcombe in honor of their identical twin daughters

Wed, July 24 - 2:00 - Main Hall - "RACE” (2016) - First time showing - Berlin 1936. The Nazi Olympics. The Aryan "supermen” would show the world their superiority to the "inferior races” - Blacks and Jews. But the Games became the "Jesse Owens Olympics” because the Black athlete tied a record by winning four gold medals. The film tells the incredible "Jesse Owens story”. It also shows that a number of star Jewish athletes were not permitted to compete. American officials complied with Nazi wishes and kept their Jewish athletes out of the Games. A shameful time in American history. A very moving movie. (English/English subtitles - 2¼ hrs)
