| Traffic and Municipal arrangements for the Jerusalem Marathon

The Jerusalem Winner International Marathon will take place on Friday, March 15, 2019. Here's what you need to know.

Pick up your race kits at the Sports exhibition at Binyanei Hauma

The general public is invited to come and visit Israel's largest sports exhibition at Binyanei Hauma,Tuesday through Thursday, between the hours of 21: 00-15: 00. Entrance and parking are free

Traffic arrangements
On the day of the race, vehicles will be closed from 4:00 am: Ben Zvi Boulevard, Rupin Blvd., Rabin Blvd. and Rothschild St.

The following streets will be closed at 5:30: Hebrew University Campus, Netanel Lorch, Hayyim Hazaz Boulevard, Tchernichovsky, Palmach, Gaza, President, Keren Hayesod, King George, Jaffa Street, IDF Square, Paratroopers , David Bar-Lev, George Adam Smith, Lehi, Martin Buber, Benjamin Mazar, Churchill, Kariv, Jaffa Gate, Armenian Patriarchate, Zion Gate, Jerusalem Brigade, King David, Jabotinsky , Chopin, Dubnov, Graz, Emek Refaim, Derech HaRakevet, Derech Beit Lechem, David Remez, Derech Hebron, Yanovsky, Yehuda, Pierre Koenig, Elazar HaModa'i, Kubshi Katamon, Yehoshua Yavin, Gan Sacher.

Traffic disruption is also expected in the streets adjacent to the race tracks.

The event is expected to end by 14.00.


The following are the open routes in the city:

  • All the entrances to the city from all sides are open: Road 1, Road 443, Ein Karem, Gush Etzion and the Ma'aleh Adumim road.
  • The Begin Road will remain open all along its length, as will Sderot Herzl, Golomb Boulevard, Rabbi Herzog - until Shimoni Junction, and turn left at Shaare Zedek Hospital.
  • Golda Meir boulevard, Shmuel Hanavi street, Bar Ilan st., Yirmiyahu open all the way,
  • Highway 9 at the entrance to the city will be open.
  • Highway 1 - the city, open south to the junction of Sachs.
  • Access to East Jerusalem and the Western Wall will be possible through the Eshkol Tunnel.
  • Entry into the neighborhoods: Gilo, Pat, Katamonim Khattab, Givat Masua, Malcha, Bayit Vegan, Givat Shaul, Har Nof, Beit Hakerem, Kiryat Yovel, Ir Ganim, Kiryat Menahem, Ramat Shlomo, Neve Ya'akov and Pisgat Ze'ev , Shuafat, Har Homa will remain open.
  • East Talpiot, Talpiot and Arnona - access will be possible through Asher Weiner Street and Ramat Ramat Rachel.
  • Talpiot: Hebron Road is open from the south to the intersection of Derech Hevron - Asher Weiner - Baram Road, Haoman Street, Moshe Baram, Pat Junction and open Malcha, including the Zoo Road.
  • Agripas Street is open to traffic and access to the Mahane Yehuda market will be maintained.
  • Haneviim Street is open from the tribes of Israel to the Davidka.
  • The entire area around the central bus station will remain open to traffic.
  • Kanfei Nesharim Street and Beit Hadfus Street will remain open.
  • Uzi Narkiss Street is open.
  • The access roads to hospitals in the city will remain open.
  • The entrances to industrial zones - Har Hotzvim, Atarot, Giv'at Shaul and Talpiot - will remain open.

Parking arrangements
From Thursday, March 7th, March 14, from 12:00 until the end of the event, on Friday, March 15, 1919, parking will be prohibited in the following streets: Ben Zvi Boulevard, Rabin Blvd., Burg St., Ruppin and Rothschild Blvd. On Yehuda Street, from 20:00 until the end of the event.

The national parks, the museums and the government building are to be used only by the participants in the race.

Vehicles parked along the routes of the runways will not be permitted to leave until the end of the event and the opening of the hinges.


Public Transport:
Buses:

Between the Ammunition Hill stations and the central bus station will connect the public transportation lines: 66, 66a, 45 and 25, which will pass through the city center and Mahane Yehuda market.
There will be changes in some of the lines in public transportation. Details Modi'in Egged.

Light Rail:

The light rail will operate on two tracks:
Route 1 - From the Air Force to Ammunition Hill.
Route 2 - From central station to Mount Herzl.

Shuttles

Collecting from the plaza of the eastern gallery at the Teddy Stadium, the Mount Herzl Plaza and the Shaare Zedek shopping centers

Educational Institutions
Studies in the education system will be held (as much as possible) as they should be.
Details of the school day in each educational institution will be given to parents and students by the school and kindergarten administration.
Parents and students are encouraged to follow up on changes in traffic arrangements and directions for alternative routes.

Recommendation for city residents:
We recommend that you shop early in the Mahaneh Yehuda market and in the city center for Wednesday and Thursday before the marathon.
