TOPIC: Buying a washing machine

Buying a washing machine 2 Years, 4 Months ago
I need to buy a top-loading washing machine-40 cm wide. Has anyone bought one and can tell me which brand is good and where to buy inexpensively?

I find that you can get good advice from your washing machine repairman. He knows you and your needs and can advise you. Twice I listened to the salespeople and the machines didn't last. My repairman gave me a specific model number and I bought that. I am happy so far!

This is the way that I buy appliances:
I read up about the appliance on the Wisebuy site (in Hebrew). Here’s the link for the Wisebuy’s info about washing machines:
www.wisebuy.co.il/ArticlePage.aspx?AID=241&PcatID=480

If the Hebrew is a problem, you can use the Google Toolbar in Internet Explorer to translate the pages.

Once I have an idea of what l’m looking for, I usually take a trip to Talpiot and check out the big appliance stores. In Kinyon Hadar you can check out Shekem Electric and Home Center. Nearby, you can also check out Machsanei Chashmal.

Usually, I then have a good idea of what I want. I then go to www.zap.co.il to compare prices and buy over the Internet. Zap gives you store ratings as well as price comparisons.
Hope this helps.

Best Wishes,

Washing machines are mainly made/fabricated in 3 or 4 countries-that’s all. They are mostly the same.
Buy a not expensive one and the most “electronic” it will have the more headache you will have!

We are making Aliyah in a few months and will need to buy one too. Would you mind sharing with us the advice you were given by your repair man?

how timely. just asked a washing machine repairman what brands to buy.He works for one of the big companies.. His advice: buy siemens or bosch. hope that helps and good luck....... I bought a whirlpool about 5 years ago. one of the parts is broken-the part that adds soap etc. doesnt pay to fix it. too expensive.
