I've had a car in the States, but not since we moved to Israel. I have no idea how any of this works here.
My basic questions are regarding buying one (used) and the costs of keeping one.
1. Buying a car - we're not Olim, we've been here as students too long to have any more legal/tax benefits. We're not Israeli citizens. I understand we can choose to import a car or buy one here. ANy experience with this on a used car? We want a rather economical option (basic automatic car under 10 years old). If you have a recommendation to import or to buy here, do you also have a recommendation of who to contact re: purchasing/arranging - a company with good prices and reliable service?
2. What are the approximate costs in keeping the car? Driver with foreign and local drivers licenses for a few years already and no "transgressions" on them. Not counting gas and necessary repairs, that is. Are we looking at insurance, registration and tests? Anything else? Approximate costs for each?
