Dear All,
Thanks for your suggestions regarding where to go near Metulla. I was requested to post the responses, so here they are.
Thanks again,
Miryam
The Banias is a must, in particular the little known Armon Aggripas' . When you take a right turn, just north of K. Shemona (towards Tel HAi) turn ~1 Km left to "Gan Hapssalim" and this takes you to a scenic road in a forest above K. 8 with very nice views, best done after 17.00 Manara is a nice Kibbutz, worth visiting. There is a sports complex in Metulla, with, among other things, an ice-skating rink and a swimming pool. I liked it. Banias - One of the sources of the Jordan River
Kala'at Nimrod (Nimrod Crusader Fortress)- Crusader ruins above the Banias.
Tel Dan - Nature trail and archeaology
Tel Faras - short drive from the Banias. Syrian bunker and fort that was the site of fierce fighting in the Six Day War
Ski chair ride to the top of the Israeli side of Mt Hermon. - Highly recomended.
Cider Hagalil - Visitors center of the factory in Kiriat Shmona that makes the stuff
Tel Hai - Next to Kfar Giladi - Site of one of the first Zionist settlements in the upper Galilee - 5 kms south of Metulla
The most obvious place is "HaTanur" which is just before you get to Metulla. You can do a little or a lot. ITMT, it's very shady with lots of water. Other than that, there are lots of kayaking places in the area.
