For those interested in a similar pay as you go phone, but at a cheaper
overall cost, try www.net10.com (a company also owned by TracPhone).
For $30 (plus a few dollars for shipping to a US address) you can buy a cell
phone, with 300 minutes already included; additional minutes are 10 cents
each; calling abroad is 15 cents/minute. Additional minutes can be purchased
over the phone or the Internet.
The phones are also available for purchase at many Wal-Mart, 7-Eleven and
Target stores.
At the end of the trip, you can bring the phone home, leave it there, or
just give it away.
