We are pleased to announce the next Movie Matinee at Beit Knesset Hanassi. On Tuesday, June 16, we will present the highly acclaimed, award-winning film GOODNIGHT MR. TOM.

The Blitz was Hitler’s bombing of civilian areas, mostly London, of the United Kingdom during World War II. Hitler began bombing London on September 7, 1940. This day is often referred to as “Black Saturday”. The first day 430 civilians were killed and 1,600 other people were injured. By the time the war was over, more than 43,000 British civilians had been killed by German bombers.

By the end of the war, 3.5 million to 4 million vulnerable people and children had been relocated from major urban and industrial centers to safer rural areas across Britain.

This deeply moving, award-winning film is the portrayal of one boy placed with a disgruntled widower in a small village. A loving bond develops between them. The movie avoids maudlin themes but does grab the heart and never lets go. The acting is flawless especially by the brilliant John Thaw. The film is a lovely gift.

The movie is in English and has English subtitles.

The Movie Matinee is at 2:00. The film is 1¾ hours in length.

There will be a brief introduction of the film and a short talk and discussion after the screening.

There will be refreshments. No reservations are required.

Beit Knesset Hanassi is located at 24 Ussishkin Street. The admission is 20 shekels for members of the shul and 30 shekels for non-members.

If you can please bring the exact change, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
