Processing Archivist
Full Time

JDC, the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian assistance organization, is seeking a Processing Archivist to join our Jerusalem office.

The JDC Jerusalem Archives contains the historical records of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee documenting activity of the JDC around the world, from its founding in 1914 until today. The archives includes text, photograph, and video collections that originated from Israel and JDC overseas offices. The JDC Jerusalem Archives works in coordination with the JDC Global Archives in New York, servicing visiting researchers and responding to research requests from around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange and describe archival records and collections in accordance with professional archival standards and principles and institutional goals
  • Contribute to institutional policies and procedures
  • Other projects as needed

Required Skills and Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in history, social sciences, or archival science; master's degree – advantage. The position may be suitable for graduate students.
  • English mother tongue; high level Hebrew skills both written and spoken
  • One year experience in archives or special collections - advantage
  • Familiarity with the IDEA-ALM system - advantage
  • Familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office programs
  • Team player, self-starter, multi-tasker
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
