I am an academic editor, writing coach, and writer with more than 16 years’ experience. I work with authors across disciplines to improve their writing and writing skills. I edit research papers, books and book chapters, grant proposals, doctoral theses, conference abstracts, and scientific reports. I help authors clearly articulate their research, ideas, knowledge, and experience, including:
·identifying and addressing gaps in content;
·improving clarity, organization, and flow;
·removing repetition and replacing jargon;
·correcting grammar, spelling, and word usage;
·formatting materials to meet style guidelines (APA, CMOS, Vancouver, and Harvard).
I have extensive experience working with authors for whom English is a second (or third) language.
Since completing my PhD at the University of Toronto, I have held a number of positions in health sciences research and education. I have focused on improving healthcare and clinical practice through research, education, and knowledge translation. I have authored and co-authored journal articles, book chapters, conference posters, presentations, and abstracts; developed and contributed to successful grant applications, including a $7M CIHR grant; and created knowledge translation materials for diverse audiences. In my doctoral research, I explored the experiences of childhood immigrants who maintained their mother tongue and became bilingual.
I thank Dr. Sara Promislow for always providing me with didactic feedback that not only encouraged me to reflect on my research but also challenged me to strive for clarity in my writing. Her feedback engaged me to be determined and persevere in my work. (Georgia, PhD, University of Western Ontario)
Sara’s editing expertise and keen insights greatly assisted me in identifying the priorities of the ideas I wanted to convey in my dissertation. This made the structural and stylistic edits of my dissertation all the more effective and efficient. (Karim, PhD, University of Toronto)
It was a great pleasure working with Sara. Her understanding of interdisciplinary subject matters is exceptional. She fully respected my original work and made very thoughtful edits to strengthen the major arguments. Her constructive feedback helped me reflect upon various thoughts and articulate my ideas more effectively. I highly recommend her editing services. (Cecelia, PhD, University of Waterloo)
I would highly recommend Sara as an editor. Her editing expertise was invaluable in strengthening the ideas that I wished to convey in my dissertation. Her professionalism, respect for different fields of study, and flexibility made it a joy to work with her. (Melanie, PhD, University of Toronto)
