A two-level residence with a private rooftop and open Mediterranean views, in the heart of one of the world's oldest living cities.
Wake to the sound of the Mediterranean against the sea wall. This is a rare first-line-to-the-sea home in the heart of Old Acre (Akko), raised centuries ago and painstakingly restored by craftsmen who specialise in ancient stone, so that every vault, arch and wall keeps its story while the comforts are thoroughly modern.
The home unfolds over two levels and a private rooftop:
Inside, original stone vaults and graceful arches meet considered design: hand-laid mosaic bathrooms that shimmer in the light, warm concealed lighting, encaustic-tiled floors, bespoke glazed partitions, and tall casement windows framing the honey-coloured stone of the Old City. With each level holding its own kitchenette and en-suite bathroom, the layout lends itself as naturally to a private home as to a boutique guesthouse in one of Israel's most visited heritage destinations.
A city like no other. Few places carry the spiritual weight of Acre. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest continuously inhabited port cities on earth, its lanes hold the sacred stories of four faiths. Just to the north lie Bahjí and the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh, the holiest place in the Bahá'í world. Within the walls stands the great Al-Jazzar Mosque, keeper of a hair of the Prophet Muhammad. This is also Ptolemais of the New Testament, where the Apostle Paul came ashore, and the Crusader capital of St Jean d'Acre, with its vast halls beneath the streets. In Jewish tradition, Acre marks an ancient border of the Land of Israel, remembered today in the Ramchal Synagogue and the dazzling mosaics of the Or Torah Synagogue. To live here is to wake each day inside living history.
