Hamas leader in Gaza tests positive for COVID-19

An estimated 21,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus in the Gaza Strip with 111 reported deaths so far.

The Hamas terror group said on Tuesday that its leader in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, has tested positive with the coronavirus.

The 58-year-old is “following the advice of health authorities and taking precautionary measures,” said spokesman Hazem Qassem, according to Reuters.

Sinwar became the leader of Hamas in Gaza in 2017, having previously been released in a prisoner-swap deal with Israel.

An estimated 21,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Gaza with 111 reported deaths so far, wrote Reuters.
