I am Mrs. Odel Millman from Meah Shearim. I have studied four doula courses and am in the process of my fifth with the well know Sarah Mantel. I have so far, two certificates from overseas and can give receipts so you can get reimbursed from your kupat cholim. I have been attending and helping in births for 5 years and have very warm recommendations, should you like to hear. My customers call me a "second mom" and I really feel that way with them. When I take on a woman I treat her as though she were my daughter. At the time of birth I am not only physically working hard to make my ladies feel better, but I am also constantly davening for them, because everything is in the hands of Hashem and He is the real support in labor!
How I work - I meet with my ladies once before the birth for about 2 hours, to get to know them better and make a plan together. I teach them exercises tailored to their abilities and needs. We talk about nutrition as well. I stay with them until about an hour after birth and call them up a week or so after to make sure they are okay and happy with their birth experience. I make sure the husbands are in tune and updated whenever possible and do my best to relay the woman's needs to the hospital staff in the most productive manner.
I also have a fun sense of humor so prepare yourself to laugh (well, maybe not when you're in pain ;-))
