A Japan Airlines aircraft hit the Hi Fly chartered plane, which was damaged, requiring alternative flights for 270 passengers.
A Japan Airlines aircraft collided on the ground at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York with a passenger plane chartered by Israel’s Arkia airline on Sunday, leaving about 270 passengers briefly stranded.
Operated by Hi Fly and scheduled to fly to Ben-Gurion International Airport, the Arkia-chartered plane sustained damage to its front section and wing. It was parked and stationary when the Japan Airlines aircraft hit it, Israel’s Channel 12 reported.
Neither plane had passengers aboard during the collision, and no one was injured in the incident, the report said.
The Arkia flight was delayed. The airlines said that passengers would be rebooked on other flights and that a replacement aircraft would be provided so operations can continue as scheduled.
