The founder of Turning Point USA was speaking at Utah Valley University.

Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old conservative activist, media personality and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck while speaking during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, according to the organization.

“We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we don’t know his condition. The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating. Campus is closed for the rest of the day,” stated Scott Trotter, spokesperson for the university, according to Deseret News.

The university in Orem, Utah, initially said in a statement that a suspect was taken into custody, but as of early Wednesday afternoon, that had not been determined by the FBI, according to reports.

"We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!" wrote U.S. President Donald Trump on Truth Social.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences as well, posting on X: "Praying for Charlie Kirk."
