We are pleased to announce the next Movie Matinee at Beit Knesset Hanassi. On Tuesday, November 18, we will present the multi-award-winning, highly acclaimed film STILL MINE.

The movie tells the deeply moving story of Craig and Irene Morrison, an elderly husband and wife, each fighting a battle. They need a new home. Craig, a highly skilled craftsman, is building the structure himself. The municipal inspectors battle him every step of the way, preventing him from completing the job.

Irene is fighting advancing dementia.

Their children are urging Craig to place Irene into a nursing home. He will have nothing of it. Their pushing him to make the move adds conflict to the already fragile situation. But Craig stands firm—against the bureaucracy, against his well-meaning kids, against the reality of Irene’s increasing cognitive decline.

Craig is simply a good man, trying to do the right thing for his wife. He is “burdened” by being intensely passionate—about his beliefs and about his wife. You’ll be rooting for him all the way.

The film stars James Cromwell and Geneviève Bujold. They each gift us with a magnificent, memorable performance. They are marvelous together—natural and believable. Cromwell plays the role of the ordinary, decent man who faces one challenge after another. Bujold is simply superb as a woman slowly descending into dementia.

This beautiful film is about aging and its inherent challenges for all concerned. Even more, it is about devotion, commitment and timeless love. It will warm your heart. STILL MINE is a hidden gem of a movie!

The movie is in English and has English subtitles.

The Movie Matinee is at 2:00. The film is 1¾ hours in length.

There will be a brief introduction of the film and a short talk and discussion after the screening.

There will be refreshments. No reservations are required.
