Photo class for ages 11-18:
Photographing Square Photos of Jerusalem with a Smartphone (Limited to 10 students)March 22-249:30-12:30
3 sessions 2.5 hrs
Instructor: Judah S. Harris
Class meets outdoors in various Jerusalem neighborhoods
Smartphones offer an available camera to beginners and advanced photographers alike. They are not a substitute for real cameras (for a variety of reasons), but they are powerful tools that can be used to create artistic pictures. In our three-day class we'll photograph exclusively square-shaped photos, learning the importance of composition, shapes and form, light and shadow, and which moment is the right moment to click the shutter and take a picture.
With a small class size, each student will receive personal guidance from the instructor and motivation to work at becoming a better photographer. Students will learn how to choose the best photos from the many they take, and at the conclusion of the class there will be an online exhibit of student photos that will run three weeks and that can be shared with family and friends. Students are encouraged to take photos outside of scheduled class time.
Smartphone with quality camera required for class. Consult with the instructor.
The "Square Photos of Jerusalem" workshop for kids is based on a current children's book project (and calendar for all ages) that photographer Judah S. Harris began last summer.
