Authorities arrested Jihad Zrikat, a resident of Kafr Kanna near Nazareth.

Israeli security forces have thwarted a planned car-ramming attack against IDF soldiers, arresting a suspect affiliated with the Hamas terrorist group, officials said on Thursday.

In a joint operation conducted by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Central Unit of the Israel Police's Northern District, authorities arrested Jihad Zrikat, a resident of Kafr Kanna, northeast of Nazareth, in February on suspicion of security-related offenses.

During his arrest, investigators found handwritten wills, Hamas-affiliated literature detailing methods for carrying out attacks, and additional nationalist materials. According to the findings of the investigation, Zrikat had resolved to commit a car-ramming attack against Israeli soldiers and had actively attempted to carry out his plan.

The Northern District Prosecutorโ€™s Office is set to file an indictment against him on Thursday.

Israeli security agencies underscored the gravity of Israeli citizensโ€™ involvement in acts that endanger national security, vowing to take firm action against those engaged in such activities.
