“I CAN’T TALK ABOUT IT”
A Different Kind of Support Group for Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (CSA)

First Support Group Meeting

If about 1 out of 4 women have experienced childhood abuse (csa), then chances are you can pass this on to someone who can benefit.
Maybe you feel alone with your secret of having been abused as a child and would like to reduce shame and mistrust? Maybe you’ve tried counseling, but don’t want to be pressured to talk about it? You’re not alone.
What happens in the group? You will only be asked to say your first name at the meeting. Before we begin, we will pause to reflect silently on our feelings and our goal for the next hour. There is no need to share if you don’t wish to. The leader will read the purpose, guidelines and other information for the meeting. In the carefully structured format of the group, volunteers or the leader will read aloud from the “Survivor to Thriver Manual”. Next, there will be a 5-minute journaling opportunity. Everyone has a brief opportunity to say how they are feeling. We read the closing statements and leave “..with a sense of hope for what our future can be”.
“Joining this group was a proactive step toward healing my childhood trauma. I was able to heal within a community of women who shared a similar experience and a common goal. I came out of those weeks feeling more whole, more supported and less afraid than when I started. It helped me shed the shame of trauma.”
Take the next step on your healing journey. Gail is an experienced facilitator of CSA support groups and is an EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner. She is also an RN and doula.
