City of Bat Yam closes two high schools after students diagnosed with coronavirus

Bat Yam Mayor Tzvika Brot decided to close two high schools in the city after three coronavirus cases were discovered there.

The decision followed a discussion with the Education Ministry, after one student was diagnosed with coronavirus in the city's Shazar high school last week and two students were diagnosed with coronavirus in the city's Melton high school, one last week and one on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, the municipality had decided that the two schools could continue operating, while some of the students and teachers remained in isolation. However, after the third case was diagnosed, the decision was made to close the schools until all those quarantined have undergone testing.
