About the Role

Mayanot Israel is seeking a passionate, organized, and mission-driven professional to join our leadership team as Director of Onward & Volunteer.
This role oversees Mayanot’s Volunteer in Israel and Onward Internship programs — empowering young Jews from around the world to experience connection, purpose, and pride through hands-on service and meaningful professional engagement in Israel.

The Director will guide both programs from vision to execution: developing partnerships, overseeing logistics, managing participant experience, and ensuring that every detail reflects Mayanot’s Chabad spirit, educational excellence, and commitment to Am Yisrael.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and growth of all Volunteer and Onward programs.
  • Work closely with Mayanot’s Registration, Trip Operations, Operations, and Marketing departments to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Shluchim, community partners, internship hosts, and volunteer sites in Israel and abroad.
  • Oversee program logistics, operations, staffing and implementation
  • Drive recruitment and marketing efforts to help fuel growth of programs
  • Liaise with Birthright, Onward Israel, Mayanot Institute, and other organizational partners for compliance, innovation, and reporting.
  • Shape the educational and experiential content of both programs, ensuring alignment with Birthright Israel requirements and in line with Mayanot’s mission.
  • Evaluate programs to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Represent Mayanot at conferences, partner meetings, and community events.
  • Support staff training and on-the-ground coordination during program seasons.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management, ideally in Jewish or Israel experiential education.
  • Strong familiarity with Birthright, Onward, Chabad, and/or similar networks.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex logistics and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Fluent English required; Hebrew proficiency preferred.
  • Passion for Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael, and the Chabad approach to Jewish life and learning.
