Rep. James Comer noted the “growing questions surrounding how Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband built millions in wealth in such a short span.”
The U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Congress are investigating the finances of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on Monday.
Trump addressed several Minnesota-based issues in a post on Truth Social, including investigating alleged fraud in the state and sending in White House border czar Tom Homan.
“Additionally, the DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Ilhan Omar, who left Somalia with nothing, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 million dollars,” Trump wrote. “Time will tell all.”
Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said the committee is “looking into it.”
“There are growing questions surrounding how Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband built millions in wealth in such a short span,” Comer stated. “Reports suggest her net worth went from near zero to $6-$30 million within a year.”
Omar is married to Tim Mynett, a political consultant and venture capitalist. The couple reported between $6 million and $30 million at the end of 2024.
“Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing, and you’re panicking,” she wrote in response. “Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me. Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing.”
