Put your computer to work when it's not in use.
Help scientists find a cure for the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. And have me set it up on your computer. Or download the BOINC and WCG programs yourself.
My computer does scientific research whenever it isn't in use by running a special screen saver. My PC has helped cure ZIKA, malaria, and search for extraterrestrial intelligence. I counted about 60 different projects that you can join - besides the search for a coronavirus cure.
This is one of the very few ways of helping that doesn’t have a downside.
Here’s an excellent CNET write-up: "Save the world using your PC or phone"
Here’s the download link for the BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) program.
After downloading and installing BOINC, join my team at the IBM WCG (World Community Grid). Once you’ve joined, you will be able to enroll in the WCG project "OpenPandemics - COVID-19."
From the WCG site:
· Accelerate research with no investment of time or money.
· When you become a World Community Grid volunteer, you donate your device’s spare computing power to help scientists solve the world’s biggest problems in health and sustainability. Scientists need help.
