Israeli Government To Hand Out 2000-3000 NIS To Every Family

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yisrael Katz decided to present a one-time grant to all Israeli citizens in an attempt to activate the Israeli economy by creating more buying power. The grants will be allocated according to the size of families, with families with one child receiving 2000 NIS, families with two children receiving 2,500 NIS and families with three children receiving 3000 NIS (about 900$).  Single persons above the age of 18 will receive 750 NIS each. The estimated cost of the grants will be 6 billion NIS.

Netanyahu said that the goal of the grants is to persuade people constrained by their financial circumstances to buy local products in order to improve the economic situation in Israel. Netanyahu added that he hopes to receive the support of alternate prime minister Benny Gantz so that he will be able to implement the decision in the government without requiring Knesset approval for the move.
