Full Stack Java Developer – 

Remote | Full-Time / Near Full-Time

We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Java Developer to take ownership of the continued development of a substantial charitable-giving platform approaching launch.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for a strong developer who is confident stepping into an existing codebase, quickly understanding a complex system, and driving its continued development through launch and beyond.

The Role

You will take over an existing platform and work directly with the business owner to develop, improve and expand it.

You’ll be expected to understand business requirements, translate them into effective technical solutions, develop new functionality, troubleshoot existing issues and respond to UAT feedback.

This role requires someone who can work independently, think beyond individual development tasks, and take real ownership of the system without requiring detailed technical direction at every stage.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial Java development experience – essential
• Liferay experience – strongly preferred
• Solid professional full-stack experience across backend, frontend and databases
• Experience working with and extending complex existing codebases
• Strong SQL and database experience
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Copilot
• Strong system-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Excellent English communication
• Proactive, independent and comfortable taking ownership of complex development

Candidates without direct Liferay experience may still be considered if they have strong enterprise Java experience and the ability to get up to speed quickly.
