The Opportunity: We're seeking a Subscriptions Marketing Director to lead our continuing transition from donor-dependent funding to a thriving subscription model. (Twenty five percent of the way there!) Reporting to the CEO, you'll own the complete growth strategy—acquiring new subscribers, optimizing pricing and retention, and building the revenue engine that fuels our mission for generations. You'll have authority to hire and manage external agencies and contractors as needed (with a $4K monthly budget) and will work closely with our in-house developer and designer to execute campaigns.
What You'll Do:
● Drive subscriber acquisition across all marketing channels with data-driven campaigns
● Build and execute marketing communications, advertising, and PR strategies
● Set pricing (with CEO approval) and optimize conversion from free to paid
● Cultivate deep relationships with our user community
● Leverage analytics tools (Mixpanel, Intercom, HubSpot) to track, test, and scale what works
● Drive measurable improvement in key metrics: new subscriptions, renewal rates, lifetime value, and revenue growth
Must have:
● 5+ years experience in direct marketing of a subscription-based digital service or content, with proven subscriber/revenue growth
● 2+ years in a marketing leadership role
● Strong experience using analytics to run structured experiments that improve acquisition efficiency and scale, improve retention or identify pricing opportunities
Ideal: Experience of both B2C and B2B markets
