 STAIN REMOVAL

**I have had fantastic successes with Sano Oxygen. It's a green spray bottle and it works
wonders on tough stains. Spray and stick into the washing machine
within 15 minutes. I use it on almost all stains.

If the stains don't come out entirely, DO NOT dry. Instead, re-treat and put through the washing machine again. My 2-year old has a dress that I had to do this to several times (I just kept adding the dress to every load I did). Each time the stains lightened and after 5 or so washings, the stains were gone.

Read the directions carefully and keep it off your skin. I recommend using rubber gloves.

**For stubborn stains I use Ran--a white powder found in the detergent area of the supermarket in a white plastic jar with a blue top. You wet the area of the stain well, sprinkle on a good layer of Ran on the area, roll up the sweater so the stained area will stay damp. Leave on about 8 hours, and wash out. It is great for white things, but you have to be careful with colored things, as it can effect the color.

There is a powder called RAN. It comes in a while bottle with a blue cap in the supermarkets. Very cheap. Worth buying. Wet the stain, sprinkle on (you'll feel that the stain gets hot immediately cuz the enzymes are working) and give it a few hours before laundering. If the sweater is white you can leave it overnight, otherwise you shouldn't leave it on that long cuz it might take the color off...

**i use oxyplus. its an oxygenator that amazingly gets everything incredibly clean. i add to my washing powder and thats it. i bought mine at the super here in givat ze'ev. and i have found this stuff to be 100% effective, and this coming from a single man!!!!

**I don't know what to do for chocolate stains but for all grease stains I am very successful with spraying "St. Moritz" grease remover (I think it's actually meant to be a stove and oven cleaner). I keep it in my laundry room and use it often and liberally on clothes and tablecloths. Good luck.

As a last resort with stains - i.e., when you can't lose anything, take the clothes outside and spray with Saint Moritz oven cleaner. Leave them for a couple of hours or so and then put them in a regular cycle in the washing machine. Don't put anything else in with them and the Saint Moritz has a strong smell. If that doesn't work - I don't know what will.

**Try dishwashing soap and a toothbrush.

try using plain dish soap. dampen the stain and rub some dish soap onto the
stain with your fingertips. I can't guarantee it will work, but I have had
great success getting various stains out with this method.

**so what works for me is i do use the spray and wash, and then let the clothing soak in extremely hot boiling water togther with bleach if the clothing is white.I let it stay in there for a good few hours like that and then put it in the machine, or let i soak over night. If it is colored clothing use non chlorine bleach in boiling hot water.

**i was just wondering if you had dried the sweatshirts. if you did than it wont come out but if you didnt yet, chicken grease- rub sum cornstarch onto it and let it sit a bit and brush it off and wash with detergent, kalia- or biz- watever type of non bleach you use. kalia is great for oil stains. i use the powder one and make it a paste with some water. you havta wash it in the hottest water you ar able- if it can have bleach- bleach it- but if not use non bleach safe for colored fabrcs. and the staind should come out. the closer it is to the time it happened - the more luck you will have gettin it out. chocolate should come out easy- put on this paste and wah it in very hot water

**Did you try soaking them in a mixture of water and chlorine bleach? Chlorine bleach here is called Economica. It comes in both big jugs and smaller bottles, so you don't have to buy a lot. I've been able to get rid of stains on white cotten sweaters and on white tablecloths by filling my laundry basket (which has solid sides, so it holds water) about halfway up with warm water and adding about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of economica and leaving it for a couple of hours. Then I just put the laundry basket in front of the washing machine, scoop whatever was soaking into the machine, add the rest of a load of white laundry, and put it through the normal cycle.

**My wife say to sew something over it.

**For whites you can use clorax. Try plain soap and water for the chocolate stain, rub it an rinse. When the stains are fresh, that is when it happens,I put hot water on the stain, then pour on it the soda - it becomes a paste - let it rest for a while. Then rinse. I am not sure it will work after you used different chemicals. For fat stains you may want to try googone. It is a goo remover, however, it removes all sorts of stains. Good luck!!!

**To take oil and grease out of any fabric, douse the stain with turpentine
and throw it into the washer. Like magic, you will see that the stain comes
out beautifully!!!

Good luck and don't be scared. I was a bit nervous the first time I tried
it. But I figured that the article of clothing is ruined anyway, so what
have I got to lose?

**I use "CARBONA' on bad stains. It is a stain remover brand graded by numbers and No. 4 treats chocolate and other grease stains. It comes in a small yellow plastic flattish type container and costs about 16 NIS. I found it in the hardware store opposite the shuk on Rechov Agrippas not far from the intersection near Merkas Clal.

WASHING MACHINES

American Machines

-have a much larger capacity, usually 10kg, as opposed to 5kg.
-do not heat water and require hot and cold taps.
-larger and may not fit in spaces allocated for this purpose in Israeli homes.
-take about 35 minutes, Europeans take 1.5 - 2 hrs.
-(according to most) last much loinger and are more reliable.
-do not clean as well and leave clothes with dull colors and stains.
-sold here are generally more expensive.
-may require liquid detergent, as they may not dissolve the powder.

*Water and electric consumption are hard to compare due to differing sizes.

I think that just about covers it. Bottom line for me: They make European
machines that handle 7 (or more) kg, and still at a reasonable price. This may
provide some of the benefits of the American size while retaining the benfits of
the Europeans.
