Water Filter for Kitchen Sink

Compiled by Netanya Hoffman with the help of fellow Jangloers.

Since many of you asked me for the responses I got about how to purify tap water, here they are:

1) My name is Shua Bloom. I sell water purification units and can give you a basic idea of what's available. The most basic carbon filter which attaches to you sink and removes all the chlorine, (and bad taste and odor from the water), costs $100 including installation and is good for as much water you can drink. (the filter costs $40 to replace every year.) The most thorough filter you can buy is a five stage R.O. filter which removes all the impurities from the water and costs $500 including
installation. Call me if you have any questions or would like to discuss further options. 02 533-3143

2) https://www.multipure.com/ I have most of these units available for close to US price. The company is the largest in the world that produces carbon block systems, improving them and testing them on a regular basis. Parts are available, The taste is improved greatly. I have been using mine for over 15 years. Comes with 30 day satisfaction guaranteed etc ..
If interested call me Menachem 6535802

3) Call this guy named Shuki who will set up a filter system under your sink. There are many different filters to choose from. 064-211670

4)An excellent built in water purifier is available from Filtertech in Talpiot. The cost is NIS899 for the full double system - the outside main line filter and calcium remover fixed in line near the water meter and a reverse osmosis undersink unit with a tap providing pure water in the kitchen.

5) Hi! Call 571 1132 and speak to Tzippy Elbaum....she sells them at a very reasonable price, top quality!

6) We bought an inexpensive filter- higher quality than a Brita, but not as great as one of those reverse osmosis filters or anything. It attaches to the faucet. My husband found it at the hardware store in Geula. I think its called "Kol Bo Yechezkel" (or maybe "Yerachmiel")-- it's on the corner of Malchai Yisrael and Yaakov Meir Street. It costs about 150 NIS, and you have to replace the filter (don't know how much it costs) about every 6 months.

7) I used this company 02 671 1133. i live on kibbutz Kalia, where the water is very hard, stoney, it is run-off water mixed with treated waste water from Jerusalem, and this filter makes it taste just fine. i don't buy bottled water any more. The taste of the water you will get depends not only on the filter but also on the quality of the water you are receiving.

8) Aside from buying a Brita pitcher to put in your fridge, you can also buy a Brita filter attachment for your faucet, at any hardware store.
