MORE THAN 1,000 EXPECTED AT ORTHODOX UNION’S TORAH YERUSHALAYIM AT RAMADA HOTEL IN JERUSALEM ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 6TH

DAY OF LEARNING AND INSPIRATION IN PREPARATION FOR YOM KIPPUR AND IN CELEBRATION OF 40 YEARS OF OU ISRAEL

Jerusalem, Israel - Leading rabbinic scholars, educators, and Jewish communal leaders will be featured at the Orthodox Union’s (OU) inaugural Torah Yerushalayim.

The event, hosted by OU Israel, is expected to draw more than 1,000 men and women of all ages at Jerusalem’s Ramada Hotel for a day of Torah study and to address topics and questions facing the Jewish world today from the perspective of Jewish law and thought.

Torah Yerushalayim is both an outgrowth of the Orthodox Union’s popular Torah New York, the largest event of its kind in North America, as well as one of the signature events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the OU’s presence and impact in Yerushalayim and throughout all of Israel.

The day will feature more than 20 sessions including keynote addresses, textual based shiurim, and panel discussions that address both contemporary issues as well as sessions focused on various aspects of the Yamim Noraim, including teshuva and prayer.

There will be sessions appropriate for individuals of all backgrounds, from beginner to scholar and every level in between.

“For more than 40 years, the OU Israel Center has served as the epicenter for Torah, inspiration, and community for so many Jews of all ages-particularly the Anglo community of Yerushalayim and beyond, as well for those visiting from across the globe. Torah Yerushalayim is a day to celebrate what OU Israel has always been about-inspiring the world from Yerushalayim,” remarked Rabbi Avi Berman, Executive Director of OU Israel.

Torah Yerushalayim will open with a morning keynote address by Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, Executive Vice President Emeritus of the Orthodox Union titled Torah in Yerushalayim-a Celebration and a Challenge and will continue with inspirational speakers and content throughout the day into the evening concluding with musical Selichot with teacher and musician Rabbi Shlomo Katz.

Registration fees are as follows: 120 NIS by October 3rd and 150 NIS for walk-ins.
