Want to share a video clip or save a movie?

Many video clips or movies are available as files which can be downloaded and viewed or shared at a later date.  Email me for my "Short Guide to Downloading Movies."  Others are "streamed" or broadcast directly to your computer.  That's what Netflix does.  Once you've watched a movie, it's gone.

UNLESS you use a program to record what's on your computer screen.  My wife recently paid for a series on nutrition which posted a video once a week.  The video was available for 24 hours only.   There were times when her busy schedule kept her from viewing the video clip before it disappeared.

THE SOLUTION -- use Jing.  Here is a review and download link.  It's listed as the best free streaming video recorder on one of my favorite sites.  The major disadvantage is that it only produces a file in the SWF format, which is not widely recognized.  I downloaded and ran SWFtoAVIto convert the SWF file to an AVI file, which IS widely recognized.

Here are two other free SWF to AVI converters:

Once I converted the video clip, I ended up with a very large file, which couldn't be sent via email.  I use to send large files -- when needed.

Please note:  Unfortunately, I cannot take any responsibility for use of the software, directions or links suggested. I have no interest - financial or otherwise - in the software or sites listed.  Use at your own risk.
Best Wishes,
