Deadline approaching...

📅

New regulations have come into effect concerning Bituach Siudi - Long Term Care insurance.

Anyone over 55  insured in an employee group policy (these are being discontinued) can now get Bituach Siudi from their Kupat Cholim without providing a medical history until 31-7-18.

Millions of Israeli were enrolled in Long Term Care Insurance plans by their employers.  The plans were problematic and the Ministry of Finance issued new regulations.  Anyone over 55 who had been enrolled in an employee group policy is now able to enroll in one of the Health Funds' Long Term Care Insurance plans without providing a medical history -- until 31-7-18.

For more information, please check out the following (Hebrew) sites:

If Hebrew is a problem, I suggest using the Simple Translate add-on in Firefox. In Chrome, you can right click on a blank area on the web page and then choose Translate.

From my reading about the subject, I found out that the Kupat Cholim policies are generally considered "stronger" than the private policies.  One of the reasons is that they provide backing for member claims on the insurance (from the insurance companies which provide coverage to Kupat Cholim members).

Also, it might be worthwhile getting Long Term Health Care from several insurance companies.  You can't "over-insure" yourself.  If eligible, you can get Long Term Health Care payments from several sources at the same time.
